Sana'a song refers to a traditional form of music popular throughout Yemen, which includes a whole series of songs. This kind of song is rooted in all kinds of poems since the 14th century. It is usually performed at celebrations, important social events, wedding vigils and gatherings of friends and colleagues every afternoon.

Sana'a songs are sung by a soloist accompanied by two ancient instruments: the Yemeni Pipa and a copper plate. The musician put two thumbs on the copper plate and tapped lightly with eight other fingers. Musical melody is rich and distinctive, but tone variation is rare. The talent of the singer lies in strengthening the expression of the lyrics, modifying the melody and touching the audience. This kind of music can also accompany the local traditional folk dance. The lyrics are written in Yemeni dialect and ancient Arabic. They are emotional and have a lot of puns. The people of Yemen regard poetry as the highest form of literature, while the lyrics of Sana'a songs are the essence of poetry and are widely quoted in Yemen. Although the song was named in Yemen's historic city of Dusana, it can be heard in cities and towns across the country, including some rural areas. In fact, the poetic lyrics of Sana'a songs are often extracted from dialects all over the country, while traditional tunes are often borrowed from other music, especially folk dances and contemporary music.
