The French gourmet meal, accompanied by an important moment in the lives of individuals or groups, is a practical social custom in the celebration of events such as birth, marriage, birthdays, anniversaries, celebrations and reunions. The festive feast is a great opportunity to bring people together and share the art of good wine and food. The French gourmet meal focuses on the intimacy of people, the wonderful experience of taste, and the balance between man and nature. Important elements of French cuisine include the selection of dishes from growing recipes, the procurement of high quality raw materials and products, and preferably local ones, so that their flavours can be blended, the mix of food and wine, the style of the table layout, and certain specific behaviors in the consumption process, such as smelling, gourmet meals on the table. French cuisine follows a number of fixed procedures, starting with an aperitif (pre-dinner drink), followed by at least four dishes in a row, the first is a starter, the second is a fish or meat with vegetables, the third is cheese, the fourth is dessert, and the end is a drink of spirits. Those who can be called gourmets have deep traditional knowledge and preserve it in memory through the observation of these rituals, thus promoting traditional verbal and/or written transmission, especially for the younger generation. French cuisine connects family and friends more closely and, in a more general sense, strengthens social ties.
