Mexico's indigenous people to commemorate the death of their loved ones, late October to early November held a festival of the dead, this time the dead briefly return to earth, Mexico's most important crop corn season.
Petals, candles and offerings are placed on the road from the cemetery to the home to facilitate the return of the spirits of the dead. Cemeteries and family altars are decorated with handicrafts, flowers, and paper figures, and elaborate meals of the dead are displayed. All the preparations were made with great care, for the people believed that, depending on the seriousness of the sacrifice, the deceased would bring prosperity (such as a good corn harvest) to the family as well as misfortune (sickness, accidents, economic difficulties, etc.). The dead are divided into several categories according to the cause of death, age, gender and occupation, and each type of undead is sacrificed for one day.
It is a festival with rich spiritual connotation and artistic color, which plays an important role in the daily life of ethnic groups. It gives life and death a philosophical height. This integration of pre-spanish religious rituals and Catholic festivals brought the two worlds together and allowed indigenous peoples' ideas to coexist with those of 16th-century Europe. Indigenous people "meet" with their ancestors every year. The day of the dead affirms the role of individuals in society and strengthens the political and social status of indigenous people in Mexico. It is a full protection of cultural diversity.
