针灸是传统中医的一种医疗手段，除在中国得到广泛应用之外，在东南亚、欧洲和美洲地区也有实践。针灸理论认为，人体如同一个由各种经络连接起来运行的小宇宙，通过物理刺激经络，就有可能促进人体的自我调节功能并为病人带来健康。刺激方法包括用艾绒点炙或用针刺就这些管道的穴位，促进身体重新恢复平衡，进而达到预防和治疗疾病的目的。针灸时，视各人具体情况，选择用针，然后用针刺激穴位。艾灸通常分为直接和间接灸，也就是把艾条直接放在穴位上，或把艾条放在靠近体表的距离，炙烤选择的区域。艾圆筒和艾条是用干艾蒿叶制成的。针灸在师徒之间或家族成员之间，通过口头讲授和实际演示进行传承。目前，针灸的传承也包括在了正规学历教育系统中。

Chinese Acupuncture

Acupuncture and moxibustion is a medical method of traditional Chinese medicine, which has been widely used in China, as well as in Southeast Asia, Europe and the Americas. Acupuncture and moxibustion theory holds that the human body is like a small universe connected by various meridians. By stimulating the meridians physically, it is possible to promote the self-regulation function of the human body and bring health to patients. Stimulation methods include using moxa velvet to burn or needling the acupoints of these channels to promote the body to restore balance, thus achieving the purpose of prevention and treatment of diseases. Acupuncture and moxibustion, depending on the specific situation of each person, choose to use needles, and then use needles to stimulate acupoints. Moxibustion is usually divided into direct and indirect moxibustion, that is, to place the moxa stick directly on the acupoints, or to place the moxa stick near the surface of the body, roasting the selected area. Mugwort cylinders and sticks are made of dried mugwort leaves. Acupuncture and moxibustion are inherited by oral instruction and practical demonstration between teachers and apprentices or among family members. At present, the inheritance of acupuncture and moxibustion is also included in the formal education system.
